COLUMBIA, Md. And IRVINE, Calif., March 28, 2005 — PEAK Technologies Inc., an RR Donnelley company (NYSE:RRD) and Toshiba America Information Systems Digital Solutions Division (TAIS DSD), today announced that they have formed a strategic alliance. Under the terms of the agreement, PEAK Technologies will provide wired and wireless network assessment, installation and services to customers of Toshiba Strata® CTX®, and CIX™ native IP business communications systems supporting Toshiba’s network of authorized dealers.
The value of Internet Protocol (IP) technology comes from how it will revolutionize the way enterprises interact and communicate with suppliers, customers, and employees. The Toshiba/PEAK strategic alliance helps deliver on the promise of emerging technologies by developing and packaging these technologies into communication solutions which allow enterprises to be more cost effective, more competitive, more connected to their customers, vendors and each other. ”The PEAK Technologies strategic alliance enables Toshiba to deliver the most stable, reliable IP telephony systems available by ensuring that each customer’s network is ready for Voice over IP,” said Larry Meyer, vice president of Sales and Marketing for TAIS DSD. “This alliance supports Toshiba’s business objectives by delivering network assessment services, site surveys and assistance in installing wireless networks to customers of Toshiba Strata CTX, and CIX native IP telephony systems.” ”The combination of PEAK’s extensive industry experience in a wide range of wired and wireless networks and Toshiba’s IP-ready communications solutions addresses the increasing demand in the market for converged wireless communications,” said Keith Boyle, director of Wireless Engineering for PEAK Technologies. “We are excited to begin working with Toshiba and its network of authorized dealers and strongly believe our strategic alliance will serve as a sales enabler for Toshiba’s dealer network.” The Wireless LAN Specialization certification demonstrates PEAK’s ability to make increased productivity and efficiency a reality for its customers through high-performance Cisco wireless technology. PEAK designed the transactions based on an RF blueprint they developed in conjunction with Nikon managers and users responsible for each transaction. PEAK developed the transactions based on user prompts, what information needed to be provided to the user, what data needed to be captured from the user, and what information needed to be sent back to SAP. "Our PEAK consultants were instrumental in the success of the project by developing user friendly transactions. We were very impressed with the performance of the consultants from PEAK who delivered better than expected results. We consider them strategically integral to our business," Kamen concluded. "As a world class organization, Nikon continues to look for ways to make further improvements within their operations to increase efficiency and customer satisfaction. PEAK was able to help them achieve their goals by being flexible and working towards meeting specific needs; the end result is yet another example of two great teams working together to improve the flow of business," said Adrian Thomas, president and CEO of PEAK Technologies.
